On December 28th, 2016, Liaoning University of Technology held the 2015-2016 scholarship award ceremony in Classroom 201 of the fifth teaching building of our university. President Tong Shaocheng, Deputy Director of the Office of Educational Administration, Liu Weidong, Dean of College of Electronics and Information Engineering, Zhou Jun, Dean of College of Economics, Cheng Chunmei,Dean of College of Civil Engineering Jia Yandong, Dean of College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, Zhou Lidai, the faculties and staff of the School of International Education, the award-winning students and 2015 and 2016 grade students attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Wenli, Dean of the School of International Education.

    President Tong Shaocheng made a wonderful speech in English. Firstly, he welcomed new students of 2016 grade representing our university, and expressed warm congratulations to the award-winning students who made achievements in learning. Secondly, he introduced the basic situation of our university, and our school students’ outstanding performance in national and provincial college students’ innovative competition, and then he summed up the great importance to international education, and the education reform measures and fruitful achievements in recent years. At present, there are 482 international students in our university. They are from 43 countries all over the world including undergraduates, masters or Chinese language learners. Finally, President Tong Shaocheng expressed concern for the students, hoped that our students can understand the Chinese laws and social customs, have a happy learning, understand Chinese culture, and become a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.

    Wang Wenli, Dean of the School of International Education, announced the winners’ list. Students, like MAKAMA from Nigeria, won the scholarship of three levels. AJALA from Chemical Engineering and MAINA from Telecommunication Engineering won the Chinese Government Scholarship. This scholarship is established by the Ministry of Education of China, facing our country. This is the second time for our university to participate in it.

    In the ceremony, President Tong Shaocheng and the leaders of all the colleges who attended the ceremony awarded the certificates for the students.
